Facade Reconstruction for Historic Downtown Building

Construction is nearing completion on this historic brownstone located in the shadow of the Empire State Plaza in downtown Albany. Originally built in 1895 for Hester Winne, the building’s (4 1/2) story back “piazza” porch wall has been redesigned by Architex to help complete the Owner’s thoughtful and detailed interior and exterior restoration. Strong with Dutch influence, the design was reviewed and approved by the Albany Historic Resources Commission. The project scope includes new supporting foundation wall with stone veneer, basement stair with full height access door, wood frame walls with spray foam insulation, fiber cement board siding and “pella” windows. The attic “crow’s nest” level was expanded to provide window views of the city skyline and door access to a rooftop deck. The existing 22′ x 23′ backyard will be landscaped with a walking path, sitting area and enclosed with a custom cast iron fence and gates.
